Seventy-four (74) Acadian family genealogies (in total, close to 143 000 entries) are compiled into a database. The selected families in this project are mostly those whose descendants now reside in the counties of Digby and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. A list of Name of families of Southwest Nova Scotia whose genealogy is entered into a database can be found on our web site at : http://centreacadien.usainteanne.ca/

From old parish records, census and publications relating to Acadian genealogy available at the Centre acadien (see resources available at the Centre) on our web site, the genealogists establish the head of the first ancestral families settled in Acadie since the 17th century and whose descendants still reside in southwest Nova Scotia. They then trace about ten generations of descendants which they enter into a database with the software "The Master Genealogist". The number of entries per family varies normally from a few hundred names to close to 10 000.
