Welcome
The Southwest shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, has been the home to the Mi'kmaq people for thousands of years. In the 1600s, Sieur de Mons and his cartographer Samuel D. Champlain established a French presence in the region which would develop into a thriving Acadian population.
The 1700s saw Nova Scotia change hands and become a British colony and home to the Loyalists including many people of African descent. Later immigration saw the arrival of other Europeans and a smattering of people from other nations.
We invite you to come and retrace your ancestors' footsteps here in our beautiful coastal province and to make use of our research facilities which contain historical documents to assist you in your genealogical research.
